Entertaiment is a broad genre of activity intended to provide enjoyment, amusement, or relaxation. It is usually associated with entertainment for the masses – such as movies, plays and concerts – but can also include activities meant to amuse or entertain just one person or group of people. The word is derived from the Latin inter tenere, meaning “to hold inside,” and is related to the Indo-European root ten. Some forms of entertainment may be more serious than others, such as a ceremony or religious festival. Some are also a form of satire or social commentary. Entertaiment stimulates the brain to realease seratonin and dopamine which the mind was evolved to deeply react to in order to function in a social world.
